If you are planning a small project that will benefit from gaining access to your property via Melbourne Water-owned land you need our consent to proceed.
Reimbursement for approved fence construction
If your land adjoins Melbourne Water land and we have approved your half-share fencing application, you'll need to apply to be reimbursed for the agreed upon construction cost.

If councils are seeking to discontinue use of a laneway as a road and convert it to private ownership they must apply for our consent.
Shared cost boundary fencing
If your land adjoins Melbourne Water freehold land we may agree to reimburse half the cost of constructing an approved boundary fence.
