We will set up our site office and compound prior to construction commencing.
We’re installing a new pressure reducing valve in the St Helena pipe-track, located off St Helena Road, St Helena.
What’s happening
In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life. Today, clean, affordable water is readily available to our homes and businesses whenever we need it.
To ensure we can keep having this essential service, we’re installing a new pressure reducing valve in the St Helena pipe-track, located off St Helena Road, St Helena.
The pressure reducing valve will measure precise control of downstream water pressures and future maintenance activities when conducting pipe isolations (stopping the water at a particular point within the pipe). This is essential in monitoring the water quality which provides the population with quality drinking water.
Construction impacts
Starting from the end of March, construction will take place for approximately two months between Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm.
During this time, the pipe-track will be closed to ensure the safety of the community and our staff. See Figure 1 for image.
Please make alternative walking arrangements. Signage has been installed in and around the pipe-track to alert the community about the closure.
If you live close to the pipe-track, you may experience the following impacts:
- Noise – machinery and crews at work
- Dust – from ground excavation
- Increased traffic in the area – from machinery and contractor movements
- Vibration – from machinery and vehicle movements
Please note, these works will not impact access to St Helena Marketplace. All construction activity will be carried out in accordance with EPA guidelines. There will be no interruption to your water supply.
