This service is only to be used by Retail Water Companies. Construction of a property sewer (domestic or industrial) in to Melbourne Water Sewer network. Connections to Melbourne Water’s sewer mains are provided via a connection point, which must be constructed as per an approved process by Melbourne Water. These type of connections can be requested by any personnel via a relevant retail company.
Application process
Part 1: Applying for Service via Dev Connect
The Retail Water Authority is to apply behalf of the customer. The following information will be requested:
- Applicants details – retailer name with the customer detail
- Location (Street address/ Site address) – GIS help available
- Pipe Size
- Detailed design (Contraction plans and Drawings) as per Corp AM P006 Preparation of Drawing Documents (please refer to the below guideline and standard for more information.)
- Trade waste agreement (Sewer mining applications only), all trade waste agreements are between the retailer water authority and the customer. Melbourne Water does not issue the trade waste agreement.

Your application may experience a delay if there are any issues. Delays in the application process may happen if:
- The information and documentation are incomplete or missing.
- We need to further investigate the complexity of the development.
We assess applications on a case-by-case basis and will notify you of the following outcomes once we have completed the review.
- The application approved. Project can move forward.
- The application approved. Conditions need to be met before the project can move forward.
- The application declined. We will notify you of the reasons the project cannot move forward. (reasons given).
- Application needs to be assessed further, and we need more information.
