Why is this project important?

The Quarry Hill tank was built in 1978 with an expected design life of 80 years, however inspections and testing of the existing condition of the tank identified refurbishment works are necessary so that it can continue to provide ongoing water supply for now and decades to come.

What are we doing?

The works will include:

  • upgrading the access track to the tank
  • site mobilisation and establishment
  • paint removal and restoration
  • internal repair work inside the tank
  • replacement of the existing roof
  • installing new fencing, ladders and external stairways.

Managing impacts

We will make every effort to minimise construction impacts to our neighbours and surrounding community, however, during construction, you may notice:

  • Some noise and dust, predominantly during working hours and, particularly when the tank is being cleaned prior to re-painting.
  • A crane will be on site to remove and replace the roof structure.
  • Installation of the construction site compound with in Melbourne Water's tank site.
  • Additional construction vehicles entering and exiting via Findon Road, and an access track on Boral land.
  • Construction personnel and activity on the site.

Local water supplies will not be affected by these works.
