Works at Lagoon Reserve were completed in late 2024.
What are we doing?
The upgrade works will include:
- Mechanical works including removing existing equipment and installing new pumps and motors.
- Remediation works including inlet and outlet conduits and pump wells.
- Civil and structural works to accommodate new equipment.
- Power, instrumentation and control works.
- Installation of a by-pass pumping set-up during main works to ensure ongoing flood mitigation.
- Upgrade works to cross-connecting drains at Lagoon Reserve.
Expected construction experience and impacts
Esplanade West:
- 16 car parks will be removed directly in front of the Pump Station on Esplanade West in late October 2024. This will allow us to accommodate staff facilities and a small lay-down area for materials. The car parks are expected to be reinstated by October 2025.
- The footpath directly in front of the Pump Station will also be closed in late October 2024. Pedestrian detours will be in place until October 2025. Clear way-finding signage will be erected to ensure the safety of the community.
- Localised road closures during deliveries.
- Noise and vibrations are expected to be minimal as works are contained within the pump station building.
- Works will occur between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 7am and 1pm on Saturdays (only if required).
Lagoon Reserve:
- Four car parks will be removed on Graham Street next to Lagoon Reserve for storage (for approximately three months). A site caravan will also be stored in this area to provide team facilities.
- Some pruning of low-lying limbs for access to the drains.
- Some noise may be experienced during excavation works. Noise blankets will be installed on temporary fencing around the work site to lessen this impact.
- Some dust and vibration may also be experienced when works are underway.
- Works will occur between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 7am and 1pm on Saturdays (only if required).
