Melbourne Water’s accreditation to SafetyMAP Initial Level (WorkCover’s self insurance licence) was recertified for three years following an external audit.
The audit found that there was excellent management commitment and employee involvement in workplace health and safety, and a high standard of performance by the organisation’s safety management system, The Safe Way, particularly in planning, data collection and reporting.
Melbourne Water’s Health and Safety Committee endorsed The Safe Way in July 2006. Key initiatives included a review of health and safety training requirements for teams designated as high priority due to the health and safety risks to which they may be exposed.
